The clinic
Two psychologists, one clinic
A small practice on Frederiksberg. Both of us are state-authorised, both of us treat, and there is no one else you will be handed on to.
Simon Secher
cand.psych.aut. — state-authorised clinical psychologist
Twenty years of clinical work, most of it with trauma. He has treated PTSD at Hejmdal Private Hospital and at the Danish Centre for Survivors of Sexual Abuse, including work commissioned by the Capital Region of Denmark.
He sits on the board of the Danish Society for Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy and is in ongoing supervision with Jon Frederickson. He has trained with Allan Abbass and Monica Urru. In October 2026 he was an invited speaker at the 12th Biennial IEDTA Congress in Dubrovnik, on adapting ISTDP for severe and complex PTSD.
His full-day presentation at the XII International Clinical ISTDP Conference (online, 7 November 2026) is a single case in full — severe PTSD co-occurring with complex PTSD, from first contact to the end of treatment. The conference is organised by Polski Instytut ISTDP Sentio, co-organised by the Medical University of Gdańsk and under the honorary patronage of its rector. It is live only, with simultaneous Polish/English interpretation, and the case is not recorded, out of regard for the patient. Conference page.
The conference has broad clinical and academic backing. Its patrons include the Scientific Section of Psychotherapy of the Polish Psychiatric Association, the Pomeranian Centre for Psychotraumatology Foundation and the Polish Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte. That a medical university, the psychiatric association, the trauma field and a military academy stand behind a single clinical day says something about how work with severe and complex trauma is regarded: as clinical and medical work, valued well beyond the therapy room.
Works in Danish and English.
Shirin Azour
cand.psych.aut. — state-authorised clinical psychologist
Seventeen years of clinical experience with depression, anxiety, trauma and transcultural psychotherapy. She trained in Denmark, England and Iran.
Transcultural work means taking language, culture and migration history seriously as clinical material — what it costs to build a life in a second language, what happens to a family across a border, what does and does not translate. It is not the same as having an interpreter in the room.
Works in English, Danish and Persian (Farsi).
What «autoriseret» means
In Denmark, psykolog is a protected title and autoriseret psykolog is a further step: a master's degree in psychology followed by two years of supervised practice, granted and supervised by the Danish Psychology Board (Psykolognævnet) under the Appeals Board. It carries a duty to keep clinical records and a duty of confidentiality, and it can be withdrawn.
It also matters practically: reimbursement from Sygeforsikringen «danmark» and from most health insurers requires an authorised psychologist. We are both authorised.
How we work
Primarily with ISTDP, combined with cognitive and metacognitive tools, EMDR where the memory itself is the problem, and REAC neuromodulation as an adjunct in some cases.
We take complicated cases. If you have been through several courses of therapy without much moving, that is a reason to call us rather than a reason not to.
Where we are
