Who we are

Simon Secher, cand.psych.aut., has twenty years of clinical experience. He has treated PTSD at Hejmdal Private Hospital and at the Danish Centre for Survivors of Sexual Abuse, including work for the Capital Region of Denmark. He sits on the board of the Danish Society for Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, is in ongoing supervision with Jon Frederickson, and is an invited speaker at the 12th Biennial IEDTA Congress in Dubrovnik, October 2026, on adapting ISTDP for severe and complex PTSD.

Shirin Azour, cand.psych.aut., has seventeen years of clinical experience with depression, anxiety, trauma and transcultural psychotherapy. She trained in Denmark, England and Iran, and works in English, Danish and Persian.

What we treat

We take the full spectrum, and we do not refer you elsewhere because your case is complicated. Our particular expertise is severe and complex PTSD — but we also work with anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, grief, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and couples therapy.

Where medication or a psychiatric assessment is the right thing, we say so and work alongside psychiatrists.

For internationals in Copenhagen

Moving country is its own kind of loss, even when it was your choice. Many of the people we see are dealing with something specific — a bereavement, a trauma, a difficult relationship — while also carrying the quieter strain of having no family nearby, working in a second language, and starting over socially in a city that can be slow to open.

You do not have to explain Danish culture to us, and you do not have to translate your own history into someone else's frame of reference.

Our method

We work primarily with Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), an active, focused approach that works with the emotions you keep at bay and with what you do to keep them there. We combine it with cognitive and metacognitive tools, EMDR where appropriate, and REAC neuromodulation as an adjunct.

Questions

What people usually ask

Do I need a referral?

No. You can contact us directly and book your own time. We do not have a public health-service agreement (ydernummer), which means no referral and — just as importantly — no waiting list.

Are you licensed in Denmark?

Yes. We are both autoriserede psykologer — state-authorised clinical psychologists, licensed by the Danish Psychology Board under the Appeals Board. It is a protected title.

What does it cost?

1.400 DKK for 50 minutes, 1.800 DKK for 90 minutes, 1.950 DKK for couples therapy. See prices.

Can I have therapy in a language other than English?

Yes. We work in Danish, English and Persian (Farsi). Shirin Azour works transculturally — treating across language, culture and migration history, not simply translating.

Can we meet online?

Yes, over encrypted video. For severe trauma work we prefer to meet in person, at least at the start.
